In August 2010, Teachers Without Borders and the National Africa Foundation will be hosting the West Africa Teachers' Conference in   AccraGhana. This conference is open to all educators from West Africa and beyond who are connected by their common interest in the theme of the conference:

Teacher Professional Development in the 21st Century.

The conference will take place on August 13-15, 2010 at the Teachers' Hall Complex of the  Ghana National Association of Teachers Secretariat in Accra, Ghana. It will be followed by a series of  post-conference workshops (August 16-20) on teaching mastery. Teachers Without Borders will offer workshops on two flagship programs: The Certificate of Teaching Mastery and the Millennium Development Ambassadors program.

This gathering will bring together an international mix of educators from West Africa, including Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Benin.

Call for Papers

You are invited to participate in this unique conference by submitting a presentation or paper proposal.

Proposals should focus on one of the sub-themes of the conference.

Accepted research papers will be published in The Voice of Teachers online journal, an Open Access international journal on teacher professional development.

We invite proposals for one-day workshops (or longer) to take place between August 16th and 20th at the Teachers Hall Complex, Accra as part of the post-conference workshop event.

Registration

In the coming days, we will post additional information about Keynote speakers, Guests of
Honour, and accommodation options for conference attendees in Accra.

Registration Fee

Participants from the African Continent: GHC100

Overseas Participants: USD$300

Information about submitting your conference registration payments will be published soon.

Transportation:

Transportation from  Kotoka International Airport in  Accra to to the Teachers Hall Complex in,
Accra will be arranged by  The National Association of Graduate Teachers in Ghana (NAGRAT).
Detailed information will be provided to all registered participants at least two weeks before the
conference. We invite all interested teachers to register to attend the conference and consider
submitting a proposal.

Accomodations:

Accommodation for all resident participants is being provided by the Ghana National Association of
Teachers at their Teachers Hostel of the Teachers Hall Complex, Accra. Arrangements are also
being made with several hotels around the conference venue including the Avenida Hotel. Details
of costs of accommodation at the hostels and hotels shall be provided soon. However, all hotels
and hostels are providing discounts to participants who confirm their participation and reservation
interest before August 6, 2010.
